Turnaround delivery, construction management, welding engineering and pipe spool fabrication for operating plants and new-build projects. The team has spent a decade on live oil and gas facilities across the CIS and the Middle East; Fabros brings that to Turkey and Europe.

What we do

Four services, one chain. The same people who build the spools can run the site, qualify the welders and deliver the shutdown. Open a card to see what each one covers.

Cutting, bevelling, fit-up and welding of carbon steel, stainless steel and LTCS pipe spools from your isometrics, from ½ in to 48 in. TIG roots with argon back-purge, MMA and flux-cored fill and cap. 100% visual by VT Level 2, NDT to your percentage, EN 10204 3.1 traceability and a full dossier at handover. Export packing and delivery to site.

Planning, progress reporting and subcontractor management on behalf of the EPC or the owner. Isometric and drawing review before the pipe is cut, field verification, punch closing, hydrotest packs and mechanical completion. Site teams and supervision supplied under your management where you need people rather than a contractor.

Quality system set-up and maintenance to ISO 3834 and ISO 9001, inspection and test plans, WPS and WPQR development, welder qualification, responsible welding coordinator to ISO 14731 for contractors who do not carry one, vendor shop audits and weld dossier review. Available standalone to fabricators and installers.

Job pack preparation, manpower and material estimates, shutdown scheduling, dismantling and reinstatement on live units under permit-to-work, and handover for restart. Crews, supervision and welding engineering supplied to your shutdown, planned months ahead and executed in the window you are given.

Sectors

Where the codes, the permit systems and the consequences of a bad weld are the same wherever you go.

Oil and gas

Upstream processing, gathering systems, compression and gas treatment. Sour service, LTCS and CRA piping; turnarounds under operator permit-to-work.

Refining and petrochemical

Process unit tie-ins, metallurgy upgrades, exchanger and column piping, shutdown scopes on live plants.

Power and utilities

Steam, condensate and cooling water systems, water treatment, tank farm piping and site utilities.

Industrial and infrastructure

Chilled water, process and utility pipework in stainless and carbon steel for data centres, manufacturing plants and building services, fabricated to EN 13480 and delivered in batches against your installation programme.

Where we work

Work goes where it makes sense for the project, not where it is convenient for us.

Welder preparing a flange in the workshop, sparks from the grinder

Turkey and Europe

Spools are fabricated in our workshop in Turkey and delivered DAP all across Europe. Fabrication runs to EN and ASME codes with documentation in English, ready for the site QA file.

Caspian and Middle East

We work on operating plants and construction sites across the Caspian region and the Middle East: turnaround campaigns, construction management, completion and punch closing under operator permit systems, with supervision that speaks the local language and knows the local content rules.

Greenfield and brownfield

On greenfield sites we install, test and pre-commission new piping systems. On brownfield sites we tie in, upgrade and turn around live units, planned around the plant's window and executed under permit-to-work.

The standards we work to

These are the codes that sit behind the weld log. If your specification calls for something else, tell us and we will confirm what it changes.

EN 13480 — metallic industrial piping

The European code for industrial pipework. Part 4 covers fabrication and installation and sets out how joints are prepared, welded and inspected. We work to it across the PED categories, from Category 0 service pipework up to pressure piping that needs a notified body.

ASME B31.3 and B31.1 — process and power piping

The American piping codes used on most oil and gas, petrochemical and power work outside Europe. B31.3 governs process piping and B31.1 power piping. Both set the weld acceptance criteria, examination percentages and pressure test requirements we fabricate to when the project specification calls for ASME.

ASME Section IX — welding qualifications

Welding procedures and welder performance qualifications to the ASME system, held alongside the European qualifications so that a shop can run either code without requalifying. WPS, PQR and WPQ records go into the dossier with the weld map.

ISO 3834-2 — quality requirements for fusion welding

The comprehensive level of the welding quality standard. It covers how welding is planned, how procedures and welders are qualified, how consumables are stored and issued, and how records are kept. Certification status: in progress.

EN ISO 15614-1 and EN ISO 9606-1 — procedures and welders

Welding procedures are qualified by test to 15614-1 and welders hold approvals to 9606-1. Both are held for the material groups and thickness ranges we run, and copies go into the dossier with the weld log.

ISO 14731 — welding coordination

Coordination is held in-house by our IWE-EWE qualified welding engineer rather than bought in. That covers procedure development, welder approval, day-to-day supervision on the floor and sign-off of the weld records.

ISO 17637 and ISO 5817 — visual inspection

Every weld is visually inspected to ISO 17637 by VT Level 2 personnel, with acceptance to ISO 5817 Level C or B as the specification requires, or to the ASME B31.3 acceptance criteria on ASME work.

EN 10204 3.1 — material certification

Pipe, fittings, flanges and welding consumables are supplied with 3.1 certificates and traced through fabrication, so every spool in the dossier can be tied back to a heat number. Where ASME material is specified, MTRs are handled the same way.

How we deliver

The same five steps whether it is a shutdown, a site scope or a fabrication package. Each one ends with something you can hold.

  1. 01

    Scope

Isometrics, model schedules or a shutdown list come in. We count joints, size crews and come back with a scope statement and a price you can check line by line.

  2. 02

    Plan

Programme, manpower histogram, WPS list, ITP and long-lead items agreed before mobilisation. Your permit and QA systems are built into the plan, not bolted on.

  3. 03

    Mobilise

Crews, supervision and welding engineering arrive qualified, inducted and with their paperwork in hand. Ten working days from award for a fabrication package.

  4. 04

    Execute

Weekly progress against the programme, weld log kept live, repairs logged against the original weld number. You see the numbers before you ask for them.

  5. 05

    Hand over

Dossier closed, punch list at zero, spools marked to your numbering or the unit released for restart. Nothing in the file that cannot be traced to a certificate.
